When did you get married?
December 1, 2007
What is the location of your wedding?
Bellachara boutique hotel, Gerringong NSW
What was the highlight of your wedding day?
Walking down the aisle and looking into my new husbands beautiful face, while being surrounded by the people I love most in the world.
Any hiccups along the way?
My hair stylist cancelled a few weeks out from the wedding because he got an advertising job, it took me ages to find someone I was happy with. Hair is tricky – because no matter what the style is, it has to last the whole day! Hairspray reinforcements are vital.
Do you have words of wisdom for brides to be?
Work out what your priorities are so that when you’re doing your budget you spend the most on those areas and less on the ones that don’t matter so much to you. For us it was amazing food, great champagne, and amazing photos and videography to remember it all! I’m SO glad we had used a videographer, I tell every bride that it’s essential – you miss so much on the day and watching the DVD is an amazing way to relive the day – you can listen to the speeches, see all the reactions you missed and it’s something special to show your children.
Tell us about your dress….
Alex Perry designed it for me. I didn’t really know what I wanted but when I sat down with Alex he just nailed it. I wanted to be elegant and classic with the detail in the fabric rather than embellishment. He told me to go and watch the film “To Catch A Thief” for my homework – the dress he had in mind for me was this stunning strapless sweetheart dress with plaited ruching that Grace Kelly wore. He was right – it was my dream dress. It was silk chiffon and the ruching around the bodice was so intricate, delicate and beautiful, with a big flowy round skirt that fell so beautifully - it looked amazing when we did our dance. He added a black velvet bow around the waist, to tie in our black and white theme. It was, without exaggeration, my idea of the perfect gown. Having a dress made for me was such a special experience and one I’ll never forget.
